Felted animal portraits by Ameila Santiago. I love how life-like these
dog sculptures are. Amelia is also a painter, printmaker as well as a
fiber artist. Though most of her commissions are dogs, be sure to
check out her other felted animals.
I first discovered her on Etsy years back and this is where you can
now find her paintings and prints.

Coming soon is Billy Grrrl my updated website and re-designed blog.
In the meantime you can “like” the Billy Grrrl facebook page. I will still
be posting about art & design that incorporate thread as well as photography.

Paintings by Brazilian artist Rogério Degaki. I can’t believe these are not knit or
woven pieces. The paintings are colorful and cartoonish. Rogério’s inspiration
draws from many sources including Japanese cartoons, Jeff Koons and Minimalism
which can really be seen in his sculptures.

“Red, Yellow and Blue” public art installation by Orly Genger in Madison Square
Park, New York City. Over 1 million feet of hand knotted rope and thousands of
gallons of paint were used to create this amazing installation. Be sure to check out
the Orly Genger by Jaclyn Mayer jewelry collection.

I will still be focusing on art that incorporates
thread, along with photography, collage and modern craft. Please
send links or recommendations – don’t be shy!

Years ago I saw Brigid Berlin’s needlepoint pillows at Glenn Horowitz Booksellers
I had just taken up needlepoint and was so inspired by her tabloid pillows. My
personal favorite is the Keith Richards headline.

I love collage and this is how I discovered Australian artist Jordan Clarke‘s
interpretation of the seven deadly sins.
“This series features vintage advertising, fabric and paper ephemera, medical plates,
Victorian etchings and some Photoshop magic to bring it all together.
A relevant quote from the Latin Bible is included in the background of each.”

My little Pop Icons by Finnish artist Mari Kasurinen. Such clever “My Little Pony” transformations. I love them all, but here are a few of my favorites.
